Terms of sale

KAAL Series 01 is an edition of twenty numbered watches. One piece exists per number.

These terms are governed by the laws of India.

Shipping and delivery

Five working days from order to delivery, anywhere in India.

Every piece is inspected before dispatch. Dispatch details are sent to the email address given at checkout. Delays caused by the courier, by an incorrect or incomplete address, or by circumstances outside our control are outside this estimate, and we will tell you if one occurs.

We currently ship within India only.

Returns, cancellation and refunds

Seven days from delivery. No reason required.

Registering your piece ends the return window.

When it is delivered you are sent a link to register the piece in the KAAL registry. Registering is how you accept it: once you register, the seven day return option closes and the piece is yours outright. Until you register, the seven days run from delivery and the return stays open. Registering is never required. Your warranty is honoured from the day of delivery whether or not you register. We will remind you once, and no more.

Warranty

Twenty four months on the movement, from the day it is delivered.

Every piece in Series 01 carries a Japanese Seiko Epson quartz movement. The warranty starts at the beginning of the day the piece is delivered to you and ends twenty four months later, at 23:59:59 India time on the same day of the month. It does not restart if the piece changes hands. It is honoured whether or not you register the piece.

Covered. A movement that stops while it has a good battery. Time that drifts abnormally. The day, the date or the 24 hour hand not advancing. A crown that will not set. Everyday rain and splashes are covered.

Not covered. The battery. Submersion in water. Impact. Normal wear to the bracelet and the finish. A case opened by anyone other than us. Errors in setting the watch.

What we do. We replace the movement; we do not patch it. A claim is answered within forty eight hours. If you have registered, make the claim from your owner page at thekaal.co/owners. If you have not, write to connect@thekaal.co with your order reference.

Nothing here limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

What the movement is, and why we name it, is written out in full here.

Privacy

We collect the name, email address, postal address and telephone number you give at checkout, the number you choose from the edition, and a gift note if you write one. If the watch is a gift, we also hold the recipient's name, telephone number and address, for delivery. That is all we hold about you as a buyer.

We use it to take your order, dispatch your watch, answer you if you write to us, and, if a payment does not go through, to reach you about that order. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone beyond the courier carrying your parcel and the payment processor taking your money.

To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, write to connect@thekaal.co.

Your data and the registry

What we collect, why, for how long, and how to have it removed.

At checkout
Your name, email, telephone and delivery address, the number you chose, and a gift note if you write one. Why: to take your order, dispatch it and write to you about it.
When you register
Your name, telephone and email as you confirm them, your city and state from the order, the time you agreed to this notice, and whether you chose to show your city. Why: to record you as the owner of a numbered piece, to run your warranty and to sign you in.
When you make a claim
What you write, and any photograph or video you add. Why: to decide the claim. These are private and are seen only by us.
When you sign in
A six digit code, kept only as a scrambled value for ten minutes. Your signed in device keeps a token on that device for up to thirty days; signing out removes it.
Who else sees it
Razorpay, which takes the payment; the courier, which needs your name, address and telephone to deliver; our email provider, which carries our messages to you; and, to measure advertising, Meta, which receives a scrambled form of your email, telephone and name when an order is paid. If you stop at checkout, the one note we send you about it may be drafted by Anthropic's Claude, which is given your first name, the number and dial you chose and how far you got, and never your email, telephone or address. Nobody else, and we sell nothing.

What the registry shows the public. For each number: whether it is available, being claimed, sold or reported stolen; the owner number (Owner I, Owner II); and the month and year that owner's record began. Your city is shown only if you tick the box to show it, and you can untick it at any time by writing to us; otherwise the page says "Owner's city withheld". Your name, telephone, email and address are never shown.
